Pumpkin Carving, Laced With Arsenic

Saturday my Dad and JoAnn took Dave, David and I to pick out 17 pumpkins for the big carving party on Sunday (yesterday). We tried to pick out a variety of shapes and sized to makes sure no two pumpkins would be alike, and it worked! They were all very different

Everyone got together and had a great time!

After the carving, everyone who could stay moved into the living room and we started our yearly tradition of watching Arsenic and Old Lace and eating pumpkin seeds! My family has done this every year around Halloween ever since I can remember :)

A Little Update On The House

I just wanted to keep everyone up-to-date on our progress with the house. The home inspection went really well, there were only a few minor things (one window was cracked, a small piece of siding had fallen off of the house and little things of that nature. There ended up being no major issues!) And sellers agreed to take care of it all, so there were no problems there. Our financing has been approved and all of those types of things are in order. We are currently waiting for the results of the appraisal to make sure the house doesn't appraise for less then we are paying, that is one of the big things we are waiting on before we can close. The only other thing is we are currently searching for home owners insurance (anyone love/hate theirs? Any advice?), so everything is really coming together! Dave and I are super excited and are really looking forward to making everything official! The current home owners will be completely moved out by this weekend so as soon as all the little lose ends are tied, we will be all set to go!

A Night of Halloween Fun

Last Saturday Dave and I went with my family to Cornbellys. Cornbellys is at Thanksgiving Point, they have a pumpkin patch, haunted monster, hayride, corn maze and a ton of other fun things to do!

There were a ton of photo opportunities! We all had a good time taking pictures and goofing off.

We all (Dad, JoAnn, Jimmy, Annie, David, Mike, Chantel, Dave and I) went through the huge corn maze (the picture is of Chantel and Mike celebrating the fact that we all made it out alive!). It was dark and the corn was tall but with Dave leading us we made it through! Jimmy and Annie did split off from our group because they thought we were going the wrong way... We got out of the maze first and had to wait a while for them to find their way... I guess we were going the right way after all :)

In the princess area they also had these creepy figure things dressed in the different Disney princess outfits! I also have a picture of my younger brother David pretending to propose to one of the creepy things but I can't post it because he (David) would kill me... So instead I am just telling you all about it!

It was cold and windy but everyone had a great time! This is the second year we have gone to Cornbellys and I think it is becoming a much loved tradition!

This Is It!

Last week Dave and I made and offer on the house we wanted. Our offer was then countered by the sellers but because their offer wasn't much better then their original asking price, we decided to countered their counter. But the sellers I guess decided they needed to be the ones to 'win' the countering war so they countered again , but this time they were only asking for everything to be a few hundred dollars less then what we last asked for... So we decided to accept! We signed the papers today and we are now under contract! As long as the house inspector doesn't turn up anything undesirable that would make it so we would not want to buy the house anymore, we will be good to go!
I thought you all might like to see a few pictures of the house, so here you go!

It has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, it also has an unfinished basement with the pluming already in place so we could eventually add another bathroom down there along with a bedroom and another living space if we ever wanted to.

This is our soon to be backyard! One of the things Dave wanted the most was a large backyard and with this house we found it! A lot of homes in Utah don't have much of a backyard, so we were very lucky to find one we loved inside and out.

Everything is set up to make it so we will be closing on the house either the last Friday in October or the first Monday in November! We are very excited and hope everything from here on out goes smoothly.

A New Favorite Movie

Dave and I went on a whim to go see 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' a few days ago. We didn't expect too much from it but it looked cute and Dave had read the book it was based off of when he was younger.

We ended up having a great time! It was so funny (I have never seen Dave laugh so much in a movie before) You would have thought Dave had written this move because of how much it resembled his sense of humor. After we got out of the theater Dave said it was one of the best movies he had ever seen! I don't know if everyone will go away from this movie loving it as much as we did but I hope so because Dave and I really enjoyed it!
