Dave and I spent a wonderful Christmas with his family in California, we alternate which family we spend Christmas with and this past one was a 'Hulihan year', which meant that my family had a belated Christmas celebration on New Years.
Our celebration started on New Years Eve at the restaurant, 'The Roof', in Salt Lake City, it overlooks Temple Square, the view is beautiful and the food was great! Because it was New Years Eve they had hats, headbands, beads and noise makers at the table for everyone to enjoy!
After Dinner we all went on to our various New Years Eve plans. I spent the night wrapping gifts with Dave for the Kaiser celebration we were going to have the next day, we took a break long enough to watch the ball drop and then watch a few fireworks through our house windows that were being set off all around us.
The next day (New Years Day) was a Sunday, so after church we all met at my Dad's house for dinner and had our 'Christmas' together. Everyone was there except for my sister Helena and her husband Kurt who live in Pittsburgh and couldn't join us this year. Though they did Skype with us a little that evening and opened the gifts we had sent them.
After dinner we all gathered downstairs to open the gifts we had gotten for each other. Our tradition is to take turns opening gifts so that everyone has a chance to see what you got. It takes longer than if everyone just ripped into the gifts at once but we really enjoy it (it is so much more fun to give than receive!)
There was also some exciting news shared that evening, Chantel and Mike told everyone that they were expecting a baby in July! We were all very excited and can't wait, she might be the first 'Kaiser Kid' to have a child!
Our 'Second Christmas' and our 'First one' was great, I love that we have such wonderful families that are willing to share Christmas with us!
